His appearance is a matter of time dengue fever in our country next to the Professor of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the University of Athens; Gika Mallorcan.
The professor talked about the serious cases of the disease occurring in the country as well as the reasons why the transporters e. climate change speaking on the radio of the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
And it is essentially a matter of time because of the increase in temperature that allows mosquitoes, which want to be very hot, to become endemic in other areas, which has the consequence of spreading at the same time, says Mr. Majorkinis in I. 91.6 and I. 105.8 and in the show “GPS de Rebus Current”.
Climate change, Mr. Majorkinis continues, but also globalization helps the transportation of male cyclists if one considers that it has been reported that goods of all kinds of car tires had eggs of this species in them.
Dengue virus
Dengue fever, as Mr. Majorkinis explained, is caused by a virus of the same name transmitted by specific species mosquitoes in the greatest part of the world. It was introduced in the United States in recent decades.
Over the years they have manifested a small epidemic dengue in both Italy and Spain. In Greece we saw dengue fever from 1927-1928, says the professor.
“And I say this with some exceptions, because then we have no experience. Symptoms, fever. If you look at the newspapers of the time, they speak of a thousand, if not a million, causes. It is also mentioned that Eleftherios Venizelos was stuck. For I remind you that we also had malaria then in Greece and the swamps were drained and many sprinkles were brought out and transmitted and infected by mosquitoes, so that after the second world war we have no cases of them at all”, he emphasized.
It’s African tiger mosquitodeclared Lord Majorkinis. “There is an Asian tiger in Greece that can also transmit, but not effectively.”
A key to this is dengue I have not found it in animals. It is therefore necessary to introduce people who are infected.
“In other words, in order to keep the epidemic from spreading, there must always be people who have the virus in their blood, which we do not have in Greece. As we have seen, now we have not seen any outbreak.
Then Mr. Majorkinis said that no case of dengue fever has been registered in recent years, unless an imported case was registered, someone went to an endemic country and returned. “But the African tiger mosquito has been isolated for a few times and has become suitable for distribution, so it is not endemic to Greece,” he said.
We must not forget, said Mr. Majorkinis, that it is quite common for people to come and go to Greece.
“Someone who comes who is a carrier (dengue virus) is not excluded. He is infected, he is not a carrier for life. That window has around 30 days. The most characteristic symptom is that we do not see it in everyone, the fever that breaks the bones, we call ‘BreakBoneFever’. Very sad is, which also rarely happens with the first infection.
He then explained that “in the case of re-infection, the approach to hemorrhagic fever is added, which can also lead to sepsis, etc. A small percentage results, but in the case of a serious infection. Depending on the symptoms, he can be admitted to the hospital.”
There are some antivirals that have not been proven to be particularly effective, while others can be passed on asymptomatically, almost like a virus. But once symptoms appear, they last up to 10-15 days.
FLiRT tension
Majorkinis, also referring to Covid 19It should be noted that after a long winter, he is already in retirement. Growing up at this time is observed because of the methods that are called Flirt.
It is not only one filtered, he says, several songs that have these changes and lead to an increase in cases, without us seeing any burden on the health system.
In the summer we will have a discussion about pumping, he added, but we don’t see anything more than what we usually do with other methods. “It’s not a big concern, but it’s not like we’re flying eagles,” he said literally.
“Pandemics are natural things that come back again and again. I also mention this in my book, The Chronicle of Men, it is something that we will see again on the planet, there is no doubt. Like a geologist, a seismologist if there will be another earthquake in Athens. The average person knows that It’s going to happen at some point. You don’t know when, but it’s something we can’t avoid.”
But we can do better, concluded Mr. Majorkin, as we build our homes better to handle earthquakes. “In the same way we are preparing the health system to be better prepared, our biotechnologies are being developed so that we can have vaccines faster and we are also testing different antivirals against viruses with different strengths so that we have a candidate ready if and when a new virus breaks out.”
